We are often asked if the software can handle pediatric lab results and the answer is no. The software was designed to use adult blood test results.
Alkaline Phosphatase (Alk Phos) is one example of a pediatric lab test result that varies widely from the adult range. This is due to the increase in the isoenzyme fraction of Alk Phos that comes from the bone. In children, the increased metabolic activity in the bones associated with increased growth will cause the Alk Phos to be much higher than the adult. Hence the higher standard lab range.
Entering a pediatric value for Alk Phos into the software will throw off the algorithmic interpretation and analysis and is not recommended or encouraged.
