  2. Your Biomarker Questions

When I run the reports I don’t see the HOMA2 calculation on the report. Are there specific markers (such as Fasting Glucose, Fasting Insulin, and/or C-peptide) that need to be on the report?

How to use the HOMA2 calculation

The HOMA2 calculations are advanced biomarkers and do not appear on the default lab templates. In order to use them, please use the following lab templates:

All Male Biomarker Template

All Female Biomarker Template

These templates have all available biomarkers.

If you plan to use HOMA on all FHRs you may want to make these 2 templates your default lab templates:

  1. Go to "My Profile"
  2. Click "Edit"
  3. Scroll down and make the "All Male Biomarker Template" and "All Female Biomarker Template" your defaults.
  4. This will automatically select these templates when adding lab test into the software:

As far as the HOMA2 calculator goes, the system calculates the values from Fasting Glucose, and/or Fasting insulin or C-Peptide. The software preferentially chooses C-Peptide over insulin if both are present.

How to Use HOMA2 In Clinical Practice

Please review Dr. Brad Rachman's interview with Dr. Weatherby who discusses using HOMA2 in his clinical practice:
