Why would a patient have high eos% and low absolute?

The % value is a ratio of all 5 WBCs in relationship to the total WBC count, whereas the absolute value is the count of eosinophils found in a known volume of blood.

The absolute eosinophil count represents eosinophilia when levels are high or eosinopenia when levels are low.

When the Total WBC count is low, the blood can have optimal ratios of the individual WBCs with an absolute low count. Please refer to the sections in the Blood Reference Guide built into the ODX Platform for more info on what high or low absolute eosinophils mean.
